Oracle Taleo Fluid Recruiting: Resources and Implementation Cheat Sheet

Taleo Fluid Recruiting

Oracle Taleo Fluid Recruiting is coming whether you want it or not. Most Taleo Enterprise Edition users have already taken the forced upgrade to 20B which makes Fluid recruiting the default interface when you hit Recruiting menu items in the system.

Of course, we all know it is being forced by the sun-setting of the Adobe Flex software framework it is built on. There is some good stuff in Fluid Recruiting and I am looking forward to using “Control F” to be able to find words and terms on candidate profiles and applications. A simple little thing but something that you were not able to do in the old Adobe Flex environment.

The Fluid interface is designed to replace the Flash / Flex interface used in the Recruiting Center product by an HTML-like mobile responsive interface (adapts to mobile device display automatically) with improved usability.

That being said, we know that Oracle is hustling to fill all of the gaps in the inteface to make sure you can do most of the things you were able to do in the Flex interface.

Warning: As of now we still feel you will need to allow your users the ability to use the Legacy Recruiting module to get past some bugs that have been found in the offer process.

Taleo Fluid Recruiting Demo

The Demo below is of Taleo 20A but is the best one we can find on Oracle’s Customer Cloud Customer Support portal.

It is a good starting reference for understanding the Taleo Fluid Roadmap as well as a primer for understanding the new interface:

Taleo Fluid Recruiting User Guide

Here is the Oracle Support link to the Taleo Fluid Recruiting User Guide for 20B. You will need a My Oracle Support (MOS) account to access the guide.

All other Taleo 20B documentation can be found here.

Taleo Fluid Recruiting Configuration Guide

There is not necessarily a specific configuration guide for Taleo Fluid Recruiting. You can just use the user guide referenced above and the Taleo 20B configuration guide.

Taleo Fluid Recruiting RoadMap

Oracle has mapped out the Oracle Taleo Fluid Recruiting Capabilities by Version in Doc ID 2311349.1 on Oracle Support. It walks through what will be released through version Taleo 20C.

We know now there will not be a version 20C. Instead, Oracle will release 3 additional monthly (August, September, October) updates to 20B to fix bugs an continue to release additional functionality. Then they will release 20D as a mandatory upgrade in November of 2020.

We have not found a document that shows what will be released in 20C and 20D and expect they will concentrate on rolling all functionality documented in the existing road-map as bug free as possible.

One thing we discovered recently is that you can’t edit historical comments in Fluid. See our more detailed post here.

Checklist for Implementing Fluid Recruiting

Taloe Fluid Recruiting is the first change to the user interface since version 10 moved to Adobe Flex. 90% of the battle is the change management of the new interface. Of which, a sub part of that, is figuring out what can or can’t be done in the Fluid interface that you were previously able to do in the old interface.

We are going to talk specifics later in the post, but here is a basic outline you may be able to use for your roll out:

  • Create Fluid Recruiting specific job aids and all reference materials for your users. Allow them a couple weeks to review them prior to testing. We have used a combination of custom client specific materials and Oracle provided demo videos.
  • End user testing in your staging zone (2 group testing meetings to share feedback and issues from testers)
  • Identify any textool changes that may need to be reapplied. If you have customized any of your field labels in the Flex environment they will NOT automatically port over to Taleo Fluid Recruiting. A Service Request (SR) will have to be submitted to Oracle to get them reapplied.
  • Make the decision on whether to keep Legacy Recruiting available (recommend making it available)
  • Activate Taleo 20B in your production zone
  • 20B configuration changes (Activate Legacy Recruiting if that was the decision, Upload logo for Fluid interface)
  • Follow up user meeting (s) \ office hours to share feedback and answer questions one week after go live

How To Enable Fluid Recruiting Taleo

First, we may want to talk about how to keep Legacy Recruiting available. As of July 29th, 2020 we would recommend you keep it available as there are some know bugs that have not yet been resolved by Oracle.

There is more detail in the Permission – Access Fluid Recruiting (Doc ID 2311348.1) article on MOS.

How To Enable Fluid Recruiting Taleo

Once you are on 20B then “Access Fluid Recruiting” will be enabled on user permissions by default. If you are not on 20B, which has likely been forced on you by this point, it would be the way to open up access to Taleo Fluid Recruiting to your users.

Changing Organization Logo

Fluid uses the “Overlay Organization Logo” setting rather than “Organization Logo”. The organization logo with transparent background is required. Supported format for the logo is PNG, with maximum dimensions of 280 x 40 pixels.

Requisition Look Up

Requisitions don’t appear to be searchable through the quick search bar.  We hope they will roll it out in another release this year.

Taleo Fluid Recruiting Requisition Look Up

We have found that you have to go to Requisitions and use the filters on the left hand side.
