Taleo vs ORC

What are the key differences between Oracle’s Taleo recruiting software and their new Oracle Recruiting Cloud product?

Both Oracle Taleo and Oracle Recruiting Cloud have their own unique features and benefits, and the choice between the two will depend on the specific needs and requirements of the organization. Ultimately, both platforms can be considered good solutions for recruiting and talent management, and the decision between the two should be based on a thorough evaluation of each platform’s features, capabilities, and overall fit for the organization.

2 years ago I thought it may be a choice. But, if you are currently using the Oracle HCM Cloud suite you are more than likely going to move to Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC) if you are currently using Taleo Enterprise Edition (Even if you love it and don’t want to move). Organizations are choosing the more integrated platform that is still evolving over fixing up old reliable Taleo Recruiting with each year that passes. We still thought it was worthwhile to do a Taleo vs ORC comparison. If nothing else, it will prepare you for the differences and give you some tips on making the transition.

Taleo History

  • Taleo is a cloud-based talent management software that was acquired by Oracle in February 2012.
  • Taleo as a product was introduced as Recruiter WebTop, an online hiring management system in 1999 by Recruitsoft, and later on, Recruitsoft, Inc. changed its name to Taleo Corporation in March 2004.
  • Originally a recruitment software vendor, the company gradually expanded into other areas of Performance Management and Compensation Management.

Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC) History

  • Oracle Recruiting Cloud is Oracle’s most recent offering and is attached to its Oracle HCM Cloud platform.
  • It became generally available in R13 of Oracle HCM Cloud
  • It can’t be used as a stand-alone product. You must also be using the Oracle HCM Cloud core HR or Talent modules.

Oracle Recruiting Cloud is a cloud-based recruitment and talent management platform developed and offered by Oracle Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise software and technology solutions.

Oracle Recruiting Cloud was developed to provide organizations with a modern and user-friendly solution for recruiting, hiring, and talent management. The platform was designed to help organizations streamline their recruitment processes, improve candidate experience, and make better hiring decisions.

The platform has been widely adopted by organizations of all sizes, from small businesses to large enterprises, and is considered one of the leading solutions in the cloud-based recruitment and talent management market.

The article linked here goes into a little more depth on the two systems.

Differences In Terminology Between Taleo and ORC

Oracle Recruiting Cloud takes on many terms that may already be familiar to you if you are already running core HCM. Taleo and ORC are doing the same basic recruiting tasks and processes but they do refer to them differently. One it seems they changed just to change was the reference to the candidate selection workflow step and status in candidate management. They made a similar change for requisition management statuses. We thought it would be helpful to call out what some common terms are called in Taleo vs ORC. The table is below:
